The centre back has been a mainstay in Rovers defence for the past few seasons and is a danger at setpieces to opposing rearguards.

Co-managers Mikey Duncan and Ernie Milne rate McKay as a young defender with a bright future in the game.

He joins four other new faces in the squad who have been signed during the lockdown.

Former Deveronvale, Turriff, Fraserburgh and Huntly striker James Duguid penned a three-year deal in 'Side's biggest transfer coup.

Fellow front man Mikey Ironside has been snapped up on a permanent deal from Turriff, who loaned him to Deveronside last term.

Youngsters Michael Wood and Ethan Barron have been signed from Whitehills and Buchanhaven Hearts respectively.

Meanwhile 'Side have taken the decision to suspend club training, having resumed sessions last weekend.

With Aberdeen currently employing increased restrictions due to a cluster of new coronavirus cases linked to town centre nightlife, pubs and cafes have been closed down in the Granite City.

A Deveronside spokesperson said: "Following the Scottish Government’s announcement (regarding Aberdeen) the club has taken the decision to suspend group training activities for an initial period of seven days in order to ensure the safety of the players, management team and their families.

As a club Deveronside have a responsibility to the community we play in and although it is not the news that we want we have to take the actions we feel are right at this time.

"We will consider the decision again after the seven-day period following the Scottish Government’s review and will update accordingly."
