Lossiemouth Football Club twin brothers Ross and Liam Archibald enjoy a special testimonial day at Grant Park against former club Elgin City
A special day for Highland League football’s long-serving twin brothers.
Ross and Liam Archibald were given a testimonial match on Saturday by Lossiemouth, the club both have served for many years.
Lossie were defeated 4-0 by Elgin City at Grant Park, with a good crowd turning out to pay tribute to the brothers.
The Archibalds even persuaded their close friend, Elgin captain Brian Cameron to play a half for both teams as part of the occasion.
And the twins, who were applauded on the pitch before kick off, joined by their families, were substituted late in the match to a rapturous ovation.
Both Ross and Liam came through the youth ranks at home town Elgin City before being signed for the Coasters by past manager Charlie Charlesworth, who headed up their testimonial committee.
The 33-year-old brothers enjoyed a spell with Charlesworth at Deveronvale and Ross also had a spell at Forres Mechanics.
Charlesworth said on Facebook: “What an unbelievable day from start to finish.
“We would just like to wrap up our testimonial celebration by thanking everyone for their participation in the event.
From supporters, catering, facilities, players, clubs, transport - it has been an exceptional experience and we really appreciate everyone’s effort in making the day so, so special.”
Lossiemouth introduced guest players including former Coasters’ stars Colin Charlesworth, Darren McConnachie, Kevin Flett and Scott Miller.
It added to a special day for all Lossiemouth supporters in attendance.
Goals by Ryan Sargent, trialist and a second half double from youngster Noah Grieve earned Elgin a 4-0 win in their opening pre-season game.
