Hosted by Udny Community Action and Udny Community Shelf, the event saw locals create a large community swap shop full of clothing, books, toys and CDs.

Local groups including Coulliehare Allotments and Wood Recyclability's displays showcased the work being done at the facilities which offer plots for local growers and create new furniture from discarded wood respectively.

Aberdeenshire Council's waste team were able to give information on recycling and were joined by staff from the local Co-op branch where soft plastic recycling is on offer to the community.

Pupils from the primary school showcased some of their handiwork in recycling items and created everything from a dog pull toy to a dreamcatcher made of sea-shells.

Other ideas incuding make jar covers out of old socks and using large sea-shells as a base for fat filled bird feeders.

Udny Community Shelf highlighted their work, which is seeing food items made available to those that need, in an effort to both help those who might need it and reduce waste.

Climate Week North East encouraged communities to think about climate change on a local level and take action to create a sustainable future and has seen tree planting in Newburgh, Potterton and Pitmedden and an Eco fair in Monymusk.
