The 70 councillors taking up seats in the 19 wards which make up Aberdeenshire Council have been confirmed following the conclusion of the count which took place today.
More than 90,295 votes were cast in yesterday’s 2022 Scottish local government election (Thurs May 5), with an all-day e-count taking place today at the P&J Live.
That represented an overall 44 per cent turnout from an electorate of 204,170.
More than 600 people were involved in supporting the election process across the North-east over the course of polling day and Friday’s count, supporting 75 polling places.
In comparison to the 2017 election -
The Conservatives have 26 seats (+8); SNP have 21 (+5); Liberal Democrats: 14: (+1) and Independent: 9 (+4).
Losses came from the Alba party and a number of aligned and unaligned indepedents as well as the council's only Green councillor.

“Once again we were joined by our colleagues from Aberdeen City Council to share P&J Live as a count venue and our thanks go to all those who once again made this a very safe and efficient event.”
