A group of local yoga teachers held a Yoga event at Princess Royal Park on Saturday in celebration of International Yoga Day.

Local teachers, Velvet Staton Mathers, Angela Smith, Louisa McKay and Gill Gaul collaborated and each lead the 30 people who attended the socially distanced event through a variety of different types of yoga class .

The event was free but in exchange donations were invited for Oxfam’s India Covid -19 Appeal and the group are delighted to have raised £535 for this appeal .

As Gill Gaul explained: "The morning was very much enjoyed by all participants , some of whom were trying yoga for the first time and it is hoped that the teachers will be able to put on similar events in the future .

"In the meantime, the teachers hold regular classes suitable for all levels both online and in person.

"Angela and Velvet, mainly in Banff and Louisa and Gill mainly in Turriff."

If anyone is interested in trying yoga , the teachers can be contacted through their Facebook pages, Velvet S Mathers Yoga , Angela at Yoga 4 Every Body , Louisa at Field Yoga and Gill at Yoga with Gill .
