The Castle Hotel at Huntly has been sold for close to the asking price of £1,250,000.
Andrew and Linda Meiklejohn, who owned and personally operated the hotel for over 21 years have sold it to DTSW Properties Limited.
The new owners have connections with the whisky industry and after refurbishing the building, they plan to combine the use and operation of the hotel with their business as well as developing the local and leisure custom.
Alistair Letham, of selling agents Graham and Sibbald, said: “Linda and Andrew Meiklejohn, after their “hands-on” custodianship of the Castle Hotel, have earned their retirement.
“The new owners have exciting plans for the hotel which will increase the appeal to a range of new customers.”
The hotel has its origins in the mid-18th Century, when it was known as Sandieston House, and in the early 19th Century, Georgian period, it was significantly extended by the Duke of Gordon family and named Huntly Lodge.
In 1946, the property was converted to an hotel with 18 bedrooms, lounge bar, dining room, two meeting Rooms, and a garden terrace, set in around 11 acres of grounds.
