Vodafone plans to remain in Elgin after St Giles Centre closure
A mobile phone company has confirmed it plans to remain in Elgin after the closure of the St Giles Centre.
Vodafone, which is on Elgin High Street but connected to the centre, is actively searching for other units in the town.
A spokesperson said: “We plan to remain in the town and continue to support our customers.”
It was announced on Wednesday that the St Giles Centre will close on Monday, January 20, with all businesses to vacate by that date.
Businesses have since been confirming future plans. Subway said a new store is “unlikely”, while The Works is closing for good.
Waterstones and Ramsdens are committed to remaining in town, as are Ashers - who plan to expand their high street bakery and keep staff on.
EE and O2 have both been contacted by The Northern Scot but are yet to confirm plans.
