Collectively as Sir Reel Clarks, the Huntly family combo of Andy, Aaron, Kyle and Chantel, were part of the musical line up for the return of the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival.

Andy, guitar and vocals, Aaron on melodion and mouthie, Kyle on trombone, bhodran drum and vocals and singer Chantel were among the first performers on stage on the opening Saturday.

“I am so proud of them,” said Andy. They returned to the stage on the Sunday and also busked in the town over the weekend.

Andy said: “We got into this because Aaron has autism and dyspraxia, so his coordination is not normally very good.

“My father died a couple of years ago and Aaron picked up his boxes and we took it from there.

“He has only been playing about two and a half years. I used to do folk festivals years ago but gave it up for a little while and came back into music for him basically.

“It’s great to be playing here again. We were in Dorset last week at another folk festival.

“We played The Haal in October last year and again this year.

“We do sessions at Huntly Folk Club and The Tin Hut has been very supportive.”
