Locals are being asked to vote for one from a shortlist of three new names for a new primary school in Keith.

The choices are:

  • Strathisla Children’s Centre – Strathisla is an area and river in Keith.
  • Gowan Children’s Centre – Gowan is the Scots word for daisy.
  • The Friendly Town Nursery – Keith is also known as the Friendly Town.

The new £1.8 million nursery is currently being built next to Keith Grammar School.

Part of the early learning and childcare (ELC) expansion across Moray, it is due to open next summer and will add up to 60 places.

When construction began in September, a request by Moray Council for names prompted over 40 entries.

Special mention goes to Eliot, who attends the nursery, for suggesting 'Eliot’s nursery'.

Folk have until the end of the month to vote for their preferred name.
