Members of Turriff Guides have collected the Girlguiding Banff And Buchan County Banner after a successful performance in the annual competition.

With restrictions firmly in place, the county - which stretches from Rothienorman to Peterhead - decided to bring the annual county banner competition online in November.

Guides - age 10-14 - from across the area participated in a variety of Heilan Coo themed activities including crafts, baking, quizzes, races and problem solving, with some earning them points and some being just for fun.

The girls would usually work together in teams to represent their unit, however due to the virtual nature of this year's competition girls worked individually to top up their unit's total.

The winning score was accrued by 2nd Turriff Guides, with 1st Fyvie Guides taking second place and 3rd Fraserburgh Guides taking third.

The restrictions meant that the girls could not be presented with the county banner and accompanying shield however this week they were joined at their outdoor meeting by competition organiser Elizabeth Massie who congratulated them on their efforts.

The girls who joined the competition were then presented with the banner and shield as well as a special badge to remember the occasion.
