Findochty VE Day tea to give charities’ coffers cash boost as community turn out in droves





A four-figure boost for good causes is in store following a community’s celebration of VE Day.

Thursday, May 8 saw communities large and small throughout the land mark the day 80 years ago when the guns fell silent in Europe as the Nazis surrender.

In Findochty, the local town hall team decided to turn their annual weekly pop-up café held on a Thursday into a VE Day-themed afternoon tea to raise money for charity.

The idea went on to pay dividends, with the sum of £1250 raised in just two hours.

Set to benefit are: Buckie Army Cadets - £350; Buckie Sensory Group - £300; Portknockie Paddling Pool - £300; Finechtie Table Tennis - £150; Finechtie Indoor Bowling - £150.
Other local events to mark the anniversary saw a wreath laying ceremony at Buckie war
