The Scottish Government has published an update to the coronavirus protection levels.

All council areas are at level 4 apart from some of the islands which are are at level 3.

The timetable for easing restrictions is:

  • April 26: mainland Scotland and islands at level 4 are expected to move to level 3. Islands at level 3 will remain there until May 17.
  • May 17: all of Scotland will move to level 2.
  • June (early): all of Scotland will move to level 1.
  • June (late): all of Scotland will move to level 0.

However, the Scottish Government has published updated guidance today after the First Minister's announcement about the accelerated easing of lockdown.

Some of the rules on what people can and cannot do will change on April 16.

From April 16 people can:

  • Meet in groups of up to six adults from six households socially outdoors, for recreation or exercise (under 12s do not count towards the number of people meeting or households).
  • Travel anywhere in Scotland to meet others for the above purpose – but they must not stay away from their local council area (or for Highland or Argyll and Bute, the level 3 or level 4 part of those areas that they live in) overnight.
