Elgin incident sees armed police attend flat as two charged
A woman and a teenager have been arrested and charged after firearms officers were called to a flat over concerns that a person was “in possession of a weapon”.
Armed police officers were sent to a property at Meadow Crescent, Elgin, after a call at around 9.25pm on Monday, November 4.
The incident was “contained”, according to police, however a 33-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering a “minor injury”.
Officers arrested and charged a 26-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male, who are set to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court tomorrow.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 9.25pm on Monday, 4 November, to a report of person in possession of a weapon at a property in the Meadow Crescent area of Elgin.
“Officers attended, supported by colleagues from Police Scotland’s armed unit, and the incident was contained.
“A 33-year-old man sustained a minor injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.”
“A 26-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male youth have been arrested and charged in connection.
“They are expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 6 November, 2024.”
Chief Inspector Michael McKenzie said: “This was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the wider public.
“Officers remain in the area while enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.”
