Aberdeenshire Council instigated revised plan for traffic measures in Turriff Town Centre today, putting restrictions along the length of Main Street.

Parking and one way restructions were introduced on Turriff's Main Street.

Following considerable opposition from local retailers and residents, plans were revised to a lesser level.

This currently includes the 20mph limit as per original plan.

One-way traffic on is now in place on Main Street to allow a wider footpath on the Celebrations side and parking is to remain on the opposite side outside Brown's Butchers but with a line of cones 1m out from the kerb.

However it was noted on Monday that the layout was not signed that parking could still take place on this side of the road and due to the cones and barriers in place this was not obvious to drivers.

Concerns were also raised with the council that Stagecoach were not made aware of the changes prior to the works being installed as several double deckers on the 35 route were seen on Monday having to take alternative unsuitable side roads in an attempt to travel north-bound when they reached the corner of High Street and Main Street.
