A fireworks extravaganza that was due to be held in Turriff has been postponed.

The Fireworks Against Cancer organisers were looking to hold the event at The Haughs on Saturday, October 24, raising money for the charity UCAN.

However, the continued uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic has meant it will not go ahead on that date.

The group outlined that it may be possible to hold the event later this year.

The UCAN fireworks spectacular in Turriff has been postponed.

In a statement on social media it said: "We've been unable to secure permission to hold the event on the planned date this year.

"It is all down to the dilemma over Covid-19 concerns.

"We're still speaking to the licensing authorities with a view to holding the event at a later date this year – but again, this will be subject to whatever licencing restrictions are in force connected to the Covid-19 pandemic."

The group added that it would provide further updates for the public and traders as they develop.

The event supports UCAN, which provides to people and families affected by urological cancers.
