Commuters who use Kintore train station are being asked to continue to report incidents of services not stopping at the station.

Earlier this month local councillor Glen Reid highlighted that several early morning services were not stopping at the station, which had only been opened the month before.

He said: "I have sent many emails trying to initially get an answer and then to resolve the issue of what was clearly a far poorer service offered at Kintore Station in comparison to other similar stations.

"ScotRail have responded to assure me that they weren’t withdrawing services from Kintore and stated that there have been, “delays and one cancellation due to poor rail conditions at Forres and Dyce” and had “an issue at Kintore where the full list of trains scheduled to stop were not being displayed” and that “this fault has since been rectified.”

"They continue by stressing that they want to “ensure that the level of service at Kintore remains on a par with Inverurie.”

He continued: "Considering that it was initially significantly below Portlethen, let alone Inverurie, this urgently needed rectifying, and it appears that it has.

"This morning, from 6.37am to noon, every train from Inverurie to Aberdeen, a total of 12 services were scheduled to stop in Kintore, and this afternoon, from 4pm to 6.16pm six of the seven trains from Aberdeen to Inverurie are scheduled to stop in Kintore.

"This is a huge improvement.

"However, I have been made aware by many residents that some trains scheduled to stop in Kintore are not stopping.

"I don’t have the figures for it, but it is horrendously inconvenient and needs to be addressed if we are to have faith in the service provided by ScotRail.

He explained: "Station skipping seems to occur when a train is running behind time, and efforts have been made to reduce this practice across the network, however, it appears to be happening at Kintore.

"Therefore I am asking locals to contact ScotRail’s Customer Relations at customer.relations@scotrail.co.uk as it is vital that people contact them in a bid to stop/reduce the practice of train station ‘skipping.’

"Please feel free to cc myself into your email via cllr.g.reid@aberdeenshire.gov.uk, or if you would rather simply email myself as I will be having a dialogue with ScotRail regarding this."
