Top businessman links up with cancer charity

CLAN Cancer Support has welcomed one of the North-East's leading businessmen to its board.

Bob Drummond has worked in the oil and gas industry for more than 40 years and is now the CEO of Hydrasun Group.

He said: "I look forward to supporting CLAN’s work and ensuring that anyone affected by cancer can access emotional and practical support in our city centre, towns and villages."

Dr Colette Backwell, CLAN's chief executive said: “We provide a highly valued, professional service to 2500 people every year, and our work is admired across the north-east.

"Our board of directors is made up of impressive, hard-working people, and we are delighted that Bob has agreed to join the team as we move forwards.

“Bob brings with him a strong business background which will complement the existing skills and experience on the team."

“CLAN Cancer Support’s board members give their time and work closely with CLAN’s management team on a voluntary basis to ensure the charity’s ongoing success.”

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort, support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer.

It covers the north-east and has a presence in Forres, Ballater, Banchory, Elgin, Buckie, Crimond, Inverurie, Lossiemouth, Turriff, Kirkwall and Lerwick.

Prior to taking charge at Hydrasun Mr Drummond held senior positions at several energy companies including Maersk UK, Salamis Group, Wood Group Engineering and Rigblast Energy Services Group.
