The funds were allocated following a vote by Scotmid members.

CRRU is focused on the study, conservation and rescue of whales, dolphins and porpoises.

Since 1999, they have operated the only 24-hour dedicated response team of marine mammal scientists in the region, providing essential rescue services for live-stranded cetaceans.

The £15,000 funding will go towards supporting their efforts to assist whales and dolphins in distress.

Dr Kevin Robinson, director at CRRU, said: “This funding is invaluable to our work, allowing us to respond swiftly and effectively to live-stranded whales and dolphins in the region.

“Every rescue is crucial, and this support helps ensure we can continue making a difference for these incredible marine species.”

The other two good causes that have received a share of the £25,000 are The Breadmaker based in Aberdeen and Earthtime based in Moray.
