Ordiquhill Primary School completes sensory garden project
A community effort has seen the sensory garden in a school refurbished to benefit the pupils.
The parent council of Ordiquhill Primary School and Nursery made an appeal for materials to renovate the space.
However, they received a lot more than this with offers coming forward to completely overhaul the area.
Sara Rennie from the parent council said: “The sensory garden was in a bad state of repair and was more of a hazard than anything.
“We recently asked the local community if anyone had any new fence panels that we could have to help us revamp the area for our children.
“However, one member of the community got in touch and offered to give up his own time to completely overhaul the area.
“The transformation has been more than we could have ever hoped for, and we just wanted to thank everyone involved.
“Andrew Young, from Young's Plant Hire, Cornhill, who gave up his own time, and used his own equipment and machinery to undertake this job for us.
“The Portsoy Men's Shed - Coal Baggers, who also gave up their own time to help Andrew Young complete the work.
“And Colin and Polly Smith of Colin Smith Contractors, for donating all the stone we needed.
“Without these amazing people, we wouldn't have such an amazing safe space for our children.
“All we have to do now is fill the area with sensory plants and ornaments to finish it off.
“And not only did they revamp our sensory garden, but they also gave our 'small world' area a new lease of life too. They are true heroes in our eyes.”
