Alan Fraser says: "I photographed this fabulous Corona around the moon from my back garden."

The ring, or Corona, you can see around the moon is actually an optical illusion.

It's caused by the refraction, reflection, and dispersion of light as it passes through ice particles suspended within thin, wispy, high altitude clouds.
