A POTATO company wants to see people's big tatties.

Albert Bartlett are urging people to scour fields and allotments for their biggest potato and then post it online.

The appeal is inspired by Doug – a 7.9kg potato unearthed last August in New Zealand.

Last week Doug, the world's largest potato, made his UK TV debut on ITV's This Morning in a widely-shared online clip.

Michael Jarvis, Albert Bartlett's marketing head, said: “New Zealand grown potatoes are spectacular, we’re sure, but nothing beats a good old British spud!

"It’s fascinating to think there’s a 7.9kg potato out there in the world but we love the idea of tracking down the UK version, we’re certain it’s hiding somewhere.

“So, if you think you may be in possession of Little Dougie then we want to know about it."

Finding a potato to compete with Doug will not be easy, with the big tuber able to make about 500 chips.

The winner of the contest will receive a year's supply of Albert Bartlett potatoes.

To join the contest, post a picture of your potato on Instagram with its weight and the hashtag: #DougsLittleBro.

Entrants also need to follow Albert Bartlett on Instagram and tag them in the post.

Entries are open until February 7, 2022.

Mr Jarvis said: "The winning potato should be a celeb in his own right so let’s give him the limelight he deserves.

"Operation find #DougsLittleBro is well and truly underway.

"Let’s bring these brothers together!”
