Thainstone hosts largest collective sale of the year

Leading auctioneering companies, Thainstone Specialist Auctions largest collective sale of the year saw over 1700 lots entered and an 82.3 per cent success rate.

Second hand good quality equipment continues to meet popular demand with top prices being achieved on the day, including a 2019 JCB 550-80 Telehandler which was entered on behalf of the administrators of Alexander Inglis & Son Limited, Grain Merchants, Edinburgh selling for £50,200.

A 2018 Thwaites 9 tonne swivel tip cabbed dumper reached the closing bid of £30,000 in the tractors, telehandlers and plant equipment section as well as a Binderberger 520 wood processor selling for £21,500.

Light commercials and 4x4’s continued to be a popular category with a 2007 Fiat Ducato 40 Maxi, 160 multijet motorhome achieving £27,000 and a Hudson 22’ twin axle livestock trailer sold for

£12,500 in the farm machinery and implements section.

Mark Barrack, Head of Thainstone Specialist Auctions, said: “We are delighted to see a large volume of lots entered with over 720 bidders joining the auction.

"The timed online auction of builders equipment leading up to the collective sale saw over 1000 entries in this section alone.

"It is encouraging to see a rise in entries as we continue to see a steady demand for good quality second hand equipment across a range of business sectors.

"By reaching a diverse range of bidders via our online platform we are able to ensure that all goods are exposed to a comprehensive network of buyers and true value is achieved on the day”.

The next Thainstone Online Collective Sale takes place on Wednesday, May 18, and entries will be accepted from Monday May 9.
