If you think you can beat the current Guinness Book of Records for the feat - which currently stands at nine doughnuts in just 30 seconds - pop along to the store between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday, August 1. There will be doughnut stacking stall situated at the front of the store for customers to give it ago.

Whether the record falls or not, anyone that participates will walk away with a sweet treat.

To ensure the rules are followed, local volunteers will be in attendance to time each attempt. As a thank you for their help, Tesco will kindly donate boxes of doughnuts to them to take home.

Dave Medina, Community and Wellbeing Champion at Buckie Tesco, said: “I’m delighted that we have been given the go ahead by Guinness World Records.

“Whilst it would be great to cement Buckie’s name in history, it’s also a chance to bring the local community together and have some fun with our customers.”

Claire DeSilva, Head of Community and Local Media for Tesco, added: “This is such a fun activity for anyone looking for a way to keep the kids occupied, what with it being the school summer holidays.

“Or of course, an opportunity for adults to show off!”

Find out tomorrow if the record has tumbled!
