Teenagers charged with causing major fire

Police have confirmed that two boys, aged 14 and 15, and a 13-year-old girl have been charged in connection with a huge fire in Macduff.

The trio have been charged with wilful fireraising, which took place in a derelict building in the Commercial Street area on Sunday.

A report will now be submitted to the Youth Justice Management Unit.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Fleming from Aberdeenshire CID said: "I would like to thank the local residents for their assistance with our enquiries.”

Seven fire engines and other resources and emergency services were called to the incident at about 2.45pm and crews spent hours bringing the blaze under control. Nobody was injured in the incident.
