Elgin police seeking information after teen ‘seriously sexually assaulted’ in Cooper Park
An investigation is underway after a teenage girl was raped in a park.
Police are appealing for information after the 17-year-old was sexually assaulted in Elgin’s Cooper Park during the early hours of Sunday, August 4.
Forensic teams were called to the scene, behind the park’s tennis courts (where the old birdcage used to be), and were at the site throughout the day before eventually leaving at around 7pm.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers from Police Scotland are investigating a serious sexual assault on a 17-year-old woman that occurred between 2.30am and 3am on Sunday, August 4, within Cooper Park, Elgin.
“Anyone who was in the area or anyone who has spoken to a young woman in the area around this time is asked to contact police via 101 and quote incident number 0752 of 4 August 2024.”
