Dean’s of Huntly celebrate takeover of popular bakery Duncan’s of Deeside
An Aberdeenshire bakery has been celebrating its successful expansion after acquiring a much-loved, hand-baked shortbread and oatcake producer.
Dean’s of Huntly have announced that they have taken over Laurencekirk-based Duncan’s of Deeside, a move the family firm say will enhance their market share in the premium shortbread sector and pool their combined expertise in the industry.
Paul Duncan, co-owner and managing director of Duncan’s of Deeside, will be staying with the combined businesses to help deliver the next phase of growth.
Welcoming the move, Bill Dean, managing director of Dean's of Huntly, said: “We’re thrilled to announce that Dean’s of Huntly Ltd has acquired Duncan’s of Deeside Ltd, a well-loved name in shortbread, oatcakes, branded and private-label goods.
“The acquisition of Duncan’s of Deeside enables us to build on our recent successful organic growth by acquiring a well-established, high-quality business in the shortbread market.
“Both Dean’s and Duncan’s have been on similar journeys over the years, working hard to modernise and grow. By combining our strengths, we’re confident we can achieve even more together than we could alone. The partnership is all about enhancing everything we do - bringing you the same high quality products you love while building a more sustainable and customer-focused business.
“We are excited to build on the successful journey begun by the Duncan family and their team.”
Mr Duncan added: “We are very excited to work with the Dean’s of Huntly team to deliver the next exciting phase of growth for the combined businesses.”
