ACE Winches appoints sustainable firm Recycl8 for facilities revamp

A company has appointed a sustainable technology firm to renew and repair its workshop facilities yard.

ACE Winches selected Aberdeenshire-based Recycl8 for the project due to its commitment to environmental sustainability - a key priority as it continually seeks to adopt solutions to protect the natural environment.

The yard near Turriff sees the maintenance and testing of the company’s extensive rental fleet of deck machinery equipment.

The repairs to the yard surface are to ensure safe and efficient future operations, as ACE Winches sees specialist equipment sent to more than 50 countries around the world.

Recycl8 partnered with construction materials specialists, Breedon Group, to supply its patented solution of sustainable, lower carbon R8 Mix concrete for the project, which is the latest in a series of successful pours across the housing, industrial, marine and port sectors.

Established in 1992, ACE Winches specialises in the design, manufacture and hire of lifting, pulling and deployment of solutions.

The company, which was acquired by international subsea equipment rental and solutions firm, Ashtead Technology, last year, supports the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair and decommissioning of offshore energy infrastructure.

Keith Anderson, general manager of ACE Winches, said: “Our Turriff facility has been powered by a local onshore wind turbine for nearly a decade, a symbol of not just intent but the action we take to ensure sustainable operations.

“In this instance we were pleased to partner with Recycl8 for this pour, helping us to further reduce our carbon footprint.”

Mark Gillespie, CEO of Recycl8, said: “We are thrilled to have successfully completed this pour with ACE Winches, once again in collaboration with Breedon Group.

“ACE Winches demonstrated its clear commitment to mitigating its impact on the environment, by appointing us for this project.

“Not only does our R8 Mix have a significantly lower embodied carbon than traditional mixes, but it also breathes new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded, reducing the reliance on virgin quarried materials.”
