An Inverurie supermarket is celebrating a special milestone this week.
25 years ago Morrisons, formerly Safeway, opened the doors of its new store to the public.
The Inverurie Advertiser shared news of the shop's opening on October 11, 1996.
The story read: "Shoppers will receive a musical welcome when the new Safeway store is officially opened on Tuesday.
"MP Malcolm Bruce will declare the Blackhall Road store open to music provided by the Inverurie Academy Fiddlers Group.
"The new store will create 175 jobs in the area and as well as shopping facilities it offers 385 parking spaces, a coffee shop, a delicatessen and hot chicken rotisserie, pizza bar and petrol station.
"Additional services include a baby changing room, freephone taxi, disabled parking and toilets."
Staff celebrated the milestone with a lunchtime buffet, however the milestone was all the more special for some.
For six members of staff the date of the store opening is synonomous with the start of their employment, with their contracts starting on October 7 to allow time for a week of training and preparation ahead of the grand opening.
To celebrate their long service these staff members - Gail Binnie, Linda Rose, Marion Rowen, Dawn Maclean, Katy Pollard and Scott Cook - were treated to an anniversary tea party where they enjoyed various treats while reminiscing on their time working in the store.
