Live Life Aberdeenshire has launched its summer holiday programme.

Activities available this summer include:

• Sports sessions: Children can enjoy football, basketball, gymnastics and other team sports to encourage physical activity, teamwork and skill-building.

• Outdoor activities: With options like skiing, tubing, cycling, and team-building exercises, children can spend a full day being active and discovering the outdoors of Aberdeenshire.

• Create and discover sessions: LLA’s libraries will host games and activities including Lego Club, reading activities, coding sessions, STEAMathon sessions and craft sessions. These are designed to foster creativity and provide enriching learning experiences.

• ASN-specific sessions: The programme also includes tailored activities for children with additional support needs, ensuring all participants can enjoy and benefit from their holiday experience.

• Rockpool Ramble at Banff Links Beach: Families can also take part in a guided rockpooling session at Banff Links Beach. Led by a Marine Master, this unique experience offers tips and insights into discovering and identifying seashore creatures left behind by the tide – a fantastic way to explore the magical meeting point between land and sea.

The programme aims to provide opportunities for children to participate in positive, accessible experiences that contribute to their health and well-being during the summer break.

Councillor Anne Stirling, chairwoman of Aberdeenshire Council’s communities committee, said: “This programme offers a wide range of opportunities for children across Aberdeenshire to stay active, try something new, and engage with others in their local community during the school holidays.”

Activities are now open for booking through the Live Life Aberdeenshire website and app. Spaces may be limited and early booking is recommended.

Avril Nicol, head of service of Aberdeenshire Council’s communities wellbeing and partnership, said: “We’re pleased to offer a summer programme that includes a mix of activities suitable for different interests and needs.

“Our team looks forward to welcoming children to sessions taking place throughout Aberdeenshire.”
