Local councillor Glen Reid received the update from the site developers.

He explained: "I am pleased to advise you that the Kintore Station project has now been given approval to re-start and that the site will be open and working again as of Monday, July 6.

"From today you will begin to see preparation works ongoing on the site as the Bam Nuttal workers start back to prepare the site to be Covid-19 secure and safe for a full return to work as of next Monday when the road works will also start and the traffic lights are set up again.

"They are still working on a 15 week programme so we are now working to October or early November as a likely opening date to ensure that all approvals are in place.

"If there is an opportunity to pull this forward then every effort will be made to do so.

"As I have advised previously the revised train timetable does include an allowance for Kintore and this will enable stopping services to commence as soon as the station is able to open.

He added: "I am pleased to note that Kintore Station is now appearing on rail network maps as a station under construction – the first time no doubt it has appeared in 40 plus years."
