The deadline is approaching for competitors to enter the Keith Traditional Music and Song Association (TMSA) Festival.

The event, taking place between Friday, June 11 to Sunday, June 13, is being held online for the first time ever.

Kathleen Anderson, the festival's chairman, said: "The competitions are a huge part of our festival and we’re delighted that we’re able to hold them online this year.

"They give a great opportunity for developing youngsters and gives them something to work towards in performing traditional music, song and verse.

"Our competitions also have had great uptake from adults too, particularly in the singing categories, with the winner of the Bothy Ballad competition going forward to compete in the Champion of Champions event in Elgin.

"Holding our competitions online this year gives people all over the world the opportunity to enter regardless of whether they’ve been to the festival before or not.

"We are looking forward to seeing all the entries that come in from across the age ranges and showcasing the wide array of talent that there is in the world of Scots traditional music, song and verse."

A wide range of competitions are available for all age groups with entries being open until 9pm on Sunday, May 16.

Entries will be published on the festival’s website and YouTube channel, with the results being announced on the Saturday of the festival as part of a virtual prize-winners concert.

Performance spots are available in Bothy Ballads, fiddle, accordion, instrumental (other than fiddle and accordion), instrumental group, traditional singing and poetry.

There are also competitions for a variety of classes in writing poetry and composing music.

Performances and can be submitted through e-mail or WhatsApp.
