Banff Castle will transform for spooky Halloween event
A community venue will come alive with spooky lights, sounds and imagination for Halloween.
The Shocktober! event at Banff Castle will be an evening that harks back to the mystery and wonder of days gone by.
Families are invited to step into a world of flickering shadows and quiet suspense.
As darkness falls, the castle will be transformed by haunting light projections that play tricks on the eye, revealing and concealing in equal measure.
Across the lawns, stalls and food vendors will add colour and warmth, creating a lively outdoor scene against the castle’s mysterious glow - a night where imagination stirs in the shadows.
Inside, wristband holders will uncover a different side to Banff Castle. The familiar staircase and rooms will take on a new atmosphere, alive with curiosity and the uncanny.
For those who prefer a gentler pace, there will be storytelling in the gallery - a calm space to relax - while a silent disco will fill the night with music and movement.
Entry to the grounds is free (which includes light projection, stalls and food vendors). Tickets for the castle experience are available online at Eventbrite or on the door
Jo Edwards, project officer for Banff Castle Community Association, said: “Shocktober! will let people experience the castle in a way they don’t usually experience it.
“Families will find themselves part of an adventure where not everything is quite as it seems, and where imagination plays as big a role as what’s really there. We thank Berties Sweets for their generous support, and Live Life Aberdeenshire Library and Museums Services for their help in bringing the evening together.”
