SEVERAL cases of coronavirus have been confirmed at Portsoy School and Nursery.
The nursery, located within the school building, has been closed since last Monday due to staff shortages, while all primary three pupils are self-isolating.
However, the school remains open, with primary 4-7 pupils returning to the classroom yesterday.
An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: "We have been advised by the NHS Grampian Health Protection Team that there have been several detected cases of Covid-19 linked to Portsoy School and Nursery.
"The nursery has had to close due to staff shortages and the P3 group has been asked to self-isolate.
"The school has written to parents and carers to advise them of the closure and to inform them of alternative childcare arrangements that are available to them. The school remains open.
"All of our schools are already subject to enhanced cleaning measures and we continue to work closely with our colleagues in Public Health."
It remains unknown when the nursery will reopen.
