The search has begun for leading women in the world of business in the Aberdeenshire area as entries open for this year’s Business Women Scotland Business Awards.

The key themes this year of collaboration and sustainability at the prestigious annual awards are watch words reflecting the changing ways we have been doing business since the start of the pandemic.

Start-up businesses, women in tech and social media are also among the categories at the awards, back for a seventh year, that mark the achievements of the growing number of women-led businesses and the entrepreneurial talents of women across Scotland.

Entries are now open in the search for business role models to inspire the next generation of leaders.

Categories range from Rising Star of the Year and Established Business of the Year to Inspirational Woman of the Year.

New categories in the 2021 awards include Collaboration Award, Sustainable Business Award and Women in Tech Award.

ITC Hydraulics' Tracy Clark scooped the Established Business of the Year Award at last year’s awards.

The co-founder and managing director of the business worked to see it grow organically to become a beacon in the hugely competitive oil and gas sector.

She said: “Winning the award reflected the company’s significant business achievements.

“ITC celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2020 and was been recognised by many customers over the years for its efforts in the industry.”

Tracy launched ITC Hydraulics with her husband Ian, while juggling a young family of three.

The business has developed and grown, working with clients across the globe and Tracy has gained the respect and admiration of her peers in a male dominated industry.

Years of hard work and determination have paid off and she is acknowledged as a successful businesswoman.

Supported by Scotland Can-Do, Business Gateway, STV, Digital Boost and Azure Global, the awards ceremony will take place online on November 19.

The overall winner of the awards, selected by the judging panel, will receive the prize of a two-week airtime campaign with Go Radio and production of a commercial.

Business Women Scotland's founder Lynne Kennedy MBE said: “We want to showcase some of the most enterprising and successful women from around Scotland: women who’ve had the courage to follow their dreams, whether that be starting their own business, making it to the top in their career, or using their expertise and knowledge to help other women be the best they can be.

“We have always wanted to shine a light on the great work women are doing across Scotland while being role models for the next generation.”
