A GROUP of Scottish independence supporters marched into Elgin yesterday evening.
The Long Walk To Freedom left Brodie at 10am and arrived into Elgin's Cooper Park just after 5pm, where there were around a 20 supporters and members of Yes Elgin – socially-distanced and with flags.
The group walked along the back roads from Brodie to Elgin, going through Broom of Moy and Kinloss.
Two walkers, Ever Uan Beag and Iain Leckenby, walked the full distance with a support team of four helping them on the way.
Yes Elgin convener Suzanne Wright said: "Yes Elgin was delighted to accompany, welcome and host the Long Walk To Freedom walkers as they made their way through Moray yesterday.
"Whilst observing covid-19 social distancing guidelines, Yes supporters were able to boost morale by accompanying the walkers with flags and a drummer, followed by a welcome at Elgin Cathedral and food and accommodation for the evening.
“Despite the difficulties of organising such an event during a pandemic, the Long Walk To Freedom are providing a positive focus, highlighting so much of what Scotland can be proud of, its history, its landscapes and most importantly, its people.
"Yes supporters across Moray have been delighted to been able to be part of this initiative. We wish the walkers well as they continue with their endeavours."
The Long Walk To Freedom is a combination of three separate walks which aims to cover every town and city in Scotland by November 30.
Walk one, which covers Moray, started on September 18.
