Upgrading key infrastructure including the A90 such as the Toll of Birness and Cortes junctions, supporting a new rail link connecting Fraserburgh and Peterhead to Aberdeen, and protecting local health care are also among his priorities.

He said he wants to reverse the damage done by the SNP to the constituency, amid its determination to take the fishing industry back into the dreaded Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), while failing to honour the promise made by Alex Salmond in 2007 to dual the A90 in his first 100 days in office as First Minister.

With his family being the founders of G&J Jack Seafoods and Gray & Adams, as well as being involved in both the whitefish and pelagic sectors, Mr Adams, who became a councillor in 2022 and works in the NHS, is determined to stand up for the fishing industry in the Scottish Parliament.

He said: “I am honoured to have been selected as the Scottish Conservative candidate for Banffshire and Buchan Coast.

“Being born and bred in the area, I know first-hand the key issues in the constituency which is why I am determined to champion the priorities of residents across Banffshire and Buchan coast.

“At a time when Labour have betrayed fishermen by surrendering access of our waters to the EU, and the SNP want to rejoin the dreaded CFP, I believe I can be a leading voice for the industry in the Scottish Parliament.

“Meanwhile, Reform have openly admitted they would back John Swinney and help the SNP remain in power despite the threat to industries such as fishing.

“My key priorities also include the safeguarding of our domestic food security against the threat of offshore wind, as well as seeking better deals for our farmers and protecting our vital oil and gas sector.

“For too long our infrastructure has been abandoned by the SNP government, who have failed to honour Alex Salmond’s 2007 promise of dualling the A90 in his first 100 days of being First Minister.

“Protecting local healthcare from the threat of closures from Scottish Government budget cuts is also one of my key objectives which is why campaigning for the north-east to get its fair share will always be at the heart of my commitment to the Banffshire and Buchan Coast.”
