Banff Academy receives Gold School Sport Award

A school has been awarded a prestigious accolade recognising the work it does in sport.

Banff Academy has received sportscotland’s Gold School Sport Award for 2024-26.

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: “This amazing achievement recognises the school's commitment to sport, putting it at the heart of its planning, practice and ethos.

“The school is proud to be one of only 50 secondary schools in Scotland to receive this prestigious award.”

Funded by the National Lottery, the sportscotland School Sport Award is a national initiative designed to encourage schools to put young people at the heart of decision making, planning and implementation of extra-curricular school sport.

It also encourages schools to self-reflect, continuously improve and recognise and celebrate successful school sport models.

The award also encourages sporting links between schools and the communities around them, providing opportunities for young people to progress.
