A Rothienorman musician is preparing to shine on a virtual platform this weekend.

Music From Scotland is an online platform from the team behind Braemar Media and Madam Tsunami highlighting some of the new and traditional music being created in Scotland.

Since many events have been cancelled and studios and performance venues are closed this year because of the coronavirus pandemic Music From Scotland has been offering musicians a platform to share their talents and keep spirits high while entertaining the public who are stuck at home.

While the platform supports music from Scotland, it offers a particular focus on talent from the north-east.

Taking to the virtual stage tomorrow night (Saturday) is Ellie Beaton from Rothienorman, one of Scotland's youngest traditional folk singers.

She has performed at various folk festivals across the country as well as performing in the likes of Aberdeen Music Hall and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

She also this year qualified for a place in the Bothy Ballad Champion Of Champions competition where she competed against the cream of the balladeering crop from across the country.

She plans to pursue vocal studies at the Royal Conservatoire Of Scotland in Glasgow later this year.

To watch Ellie's performance, head over to Music From Scotland's Facebook page at 7.30pm tomorrow (Saturday, June 6).
