HUNTLY Rotary Club has had to curtail its programme of Christmas activities due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Members managed to supply, erect and decorate the Christmas tree in The Square last Sunday morning.

But in the next couple of weeks they would usually have co-hosted a Christmas festival and a visit from the Cairngorm Reindeer in the Square then headed out on a town and villages tour with Santa and his sleigh to collect for local, national and international charities.

At both events, children had an opportunity to send their letters to Santa or hand them over in person and rather than let the youngsters down they have come up with an alternative plan.

Instead, if before Sunday, December 20, 2020, children post their letters in either the Santa post box outside the Brander Building or the one in Rizza’s shop on Gordon Street, they will receive a post card from Santa to let them know he’s received their list safely.

Letters should be in an envelope, no stamp is required and include the name and address of who sent it. Alternatively letters can be emailed to david.hagawic@btinternet.com.

A spokesman said: “The service is free but people should feel free to make a donation to any local charity.”
