Following her progress report on the Park & Ride in Ellon last week , councillor Gillian Owen is updating residents on other notable infrastructure projects.

Those are the A90 road surface from the Ellon roundabout and Tipperty and the condition of the Balmacassie Industrial Estate.

Councillor Owen said, “The traffic issues at the Ellon roundabout disappeared overnight with the lockdown but as we go down the recovery route that may change.

"The road surface continues to be sub-standard and even with the reduction in traffic the road still needs urgent attention and I contacted Bear Scotland and the Officer told me, ‘I believe that the A90 Ellon North scheme is still programmed for 20/21 financial year.

"I believe that further investigations were being carried out recently to aid in design of the resurfacing works.

"This is excellent news and I will continue to press for these remedial works to be undertaken as soon as possible.”

She continued: “Many residents will know that Balmacassie Industrial Estate has been a real bone of contention with me and last year at the September Formartine Area Committee we agreed the works programme but sadly Covid put paid to the timetable.

"I have asked Officers for the current situation and now the project needs to be approved by the Adaptive Services Board and a cost estimate based on the bill of quantities, which is a detailed statement of work, prices, dimensions and any other details that need to be considered before the project can start.

"Once this has been completed an approved tender will issued for the works.”

She added: “I realise this must be so frustrating for the businesses in the estate, i have found it equally so, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, the project is now back up and running and all being well we should see these works completed prior to winter.

"It has taken time, but it will be worth the wait once it is finished."
