Record total of 325 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within the last week

A TOTAL of 325 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, meaning there have been 4112 cases in the area since the outbreak began.

This is the highest number of cases ever confirmed in Moray, up on the 217 confirmed in last week's update.

There has been no rise in the number of people in Moray to have died due to Covid-19. In total, 45 local residents have died due to the virus since March 2020.

Of the 45 people to have died, 33 tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 12 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

Within the last week, 1013 people have tested negative for the virus – which is up on the 894 last week.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 40,015 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Moray neighbourhood update

All but one of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least three cases of Covid-19 between September 27 and October 3.

Elgin remains the worst-hit town, with 60 cases. In Lossiemouth, 36 cases were confirmed, with 33 in Buckie, 18 in Keith and Fife Keith and 17 in Forres.

North Speyside was the only area to record fewer than three cases.

Other areas with cases are:

  • Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: 19
  • Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry: 19
  • Burghead, Roseisle and Laich: 16
  • Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward: 13
  • Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: 11
  • Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava: seven
  • Rural Keith and Strathisla: seven
  • South Speyside and the Cabrach: six
  • Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley: three

The number of people aged 16 plus in Moray to have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 69,043. This accounts for 86.7 per cent of the area's adult population.

The number to have received one dose is 73,810 – or 92.6 per cent of all those aged 16 plus in Moray.
