Aberdeenshire’s Tranquility Wild West Town hosts ‘bank-robbing’ rapper for video shoot

A rapper has “robbed” the bank of Scotland’s only Wild West town for a music video.

Luibh Laoch, from Ayr, was pictured apparently raiding Tranquility Wild West Town’s bank earlier this month.

The Ayr-based rapper, whose music has been influenced by “outlaw” country, travelled to the atmospheric site in Forgue, Aberdeenshire to shoot a music video for new track The Robbery.

To be released later this year, the track is a prequel to November 2023 song Dead Men - which also had a video filmed at Tranquility.

Taking to social media, Luibh Laoch said: “I'd like to express my heartfelt thanks to my outlaw posse for valiantly rushing into the face of danger in order to alleviate the fair townspeople of Tranquility of their wealth.”

However, he also thanked town founder and owner Alistair Baranowski, aka “Sheriff Ally Barron”, and the Northern Rough Riders cowboy re-enactment team for their help with the video.

Tranquility was founded in 2005, as a “reconstruction of a small frontier town in the old American West”, in a field beside the Glendronach Distillery.

Over the years the town has grown to include a saloon, town hall, general store, bank and marshals office among others.

The video shoot came ahead of Tranquility’s final open day of 2024, on September 22.

Starting at 1.30pm, the event will feature Western-themed activities like horseshoe pitching, knife throwing, target shooting, buffalo hunting archery.

Also on offer are tours of Tranquility and its immersive buildings, with tea and coffee available in the saloon.

Soundtracked by live music from Brendan Moir, visitors can expect live action gunfights at 2.15pm and 3.15pm.

The event is free but Mr Baranowski said donations were welcome.

Following the video shoot, Luibh Laoch took to Facebook to warn that The Robbery is “coming to a bank near you mighty soon…”

He added: “Keep your fingers on your triggers...”
