Moray pupil's 'Road Surfing' badge to inspire thousands of UK schoolchildren
An imaginative badge designed by a Moray pupil will be worn by thousands of children across the UK throughout the rest of June.
Anna Ogston’s creation beat nearly 200,000 entries in a competition organised by Living Streets, a charity which aims to encourage children and their families to walk or ‘wheel’ to school at least once a week.
Anna is in the fifth year at Mosstodloch Primary, which was among the 19 schools in Moray, as well as the 2000 nationwide, that participated.
The theme for designing a badge was ‘Walk with Imagination’.
Anna’s response was to envision cars transforming into surfboards on watery roads – a concept inspired by her love for Moray’s beaches.
Chris Thompson of Living Streets praised her design, noting it "will inspire children across Scotland, England, and Wales to walk and wheel more”.
To celebrate her success Anna and two friends were given vouchers for a lesson from New Wave Surf School in Lossiemouth.
