Keig Primary are the only school in Scotland to achieve Master School status.

Both classes P1-4 and P5-7 have exceeded Renaissance’s extremely rigorous research-based criteria for best practices.

Every student in these classes is actively engaged with the programme and students are actively participating for an average of at least 20 minutes each day.

Becoming a Master School means Keig School is automatically shortlisted for the Renaissance Excellence Award later this year.

Keig School is a small school and last year we had just 25 pupils.

Headteacher Jane Murison is extremely proud of all the pupils, staff and families for this amazing achievement and said: "This was made even more special last school year with pupils being home schooled since March 23rd.

"Teachers were in contact with pupils daily and kept the reading going with fun activities which included a Guess the Book Title Movie.

"For such a small school we have a well stocked library and made sure the pupils took home plenty books to keep them going through lock-down."

This is the third time Keig School has achieved Master School status and in 2017 were the top school in Scotland in the Renaissance Awards.
