Episcopal churches in Aberdeenshire are set to welcome a new Rector.

Reverend Suzanne Brumwell, who is currently based in Wales, will join St Mary’s Church, Inverurie; St Anne’s Church, Kemnay; St Mary’s Church, Auchindoir; and All Saints’ Church, Whiterashes.

The installation service will be held on Thursday, August 11, at 7pm in St Mary’s Church, Inverurie.

A spokesperson for the churches said: "The Ministry Team, and the Search and Appointment Group representing the Vestries of the Donside Group of Churches, are delighted to announce that the Reverend Suzanne Brumwell has accepted the call to come to Aberdeenshire as our new Rector.

"Suzanne is currently the Team Vicar of a group of three churches within the Pedair Afon Ministry area in the Diocese of Llandaff.

"Suzanne was able to visit us earlier this year to see all four churches and to meet a number of members of the congregations.

"As part of the discernment process Suzanne lead a seminar on ‘Mission in Contemporary Scotland’ and was interviewed by the Search and Appointment Group. She also met with Bishop Anne.

"We were all convinced that she was the person for whom we had been searching as the successor to Reverend Canon John Walker who retired in Autumn 2021.

"Suzanne comes to us with a proven track record of both pastoral work with people of all ages and of involvement in mission, both initially as a lay church worker and subsequently as a priest.

"Her involvement in mission has ranged from organising pastoral care with lay volunteers to the development of a charity shop business.

"We look forward to welcoming Suzanne and her husband Phil as they move to Inverurie during the summer.

"Suzanne will be instituted as Rector in a service led by Bishop Anne on Thursday, August 11 at 7pm."

The Right Reverend Anne Dyer Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney said: "I am delighted that Reverend Suzanne Brumwell has responded to the call to come to serve the Donside Group of Churches as their next Rector.

"Suzanne has a passion for mission, especially the inclusion of children. She is a prayerful, community minded priest, with experience in churches of different traditions. We look forward to welcoming Suzanne into the Diocese."

Those wishing to attend the service can RSVP to the administrator at smcinverurie@btinternet.com

It will also be streamed via Zoom and will be recorded. Anyone who would like to join can contact the digital missioner through the online form on the website.
