The village's picturesque harbour was transformed earlier this month for the purposes of the hit show, which is set in the 1920s and stars Cillian Murphy.

As of yesterday, though, the last local building to feature during the filming was being repainted.

Rumour has it that Portsoy will stand in as Miquelon, a tiny and remote French territory off the east coast of Canada.

The Peaky Blinders actors and crew have now moved on to the North England town of Lancaster, where they are continuing to film new scenes.

Shooting on the sixth and final series is scheduled to wrap up in either May or June.

Up to another six months of editing will then follow, which means the show will be broadcast either towards the end of this year or during 2022.
