Police information appeal after concern for woman on bridge

Police are investigating following a report received that had concern for a woman sitting on the Deveron road bridge at Turriff.

Officers and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to the report at about 7.45pm on Thursday and carried out a search of the area to ensure that there were no people in difficulty but no-one was found.

Inspector Colin Taylor from Police Scotland said: "Although there was no specific information to suggest that the female had come to any harm, it was necessary for us to confirm that.

"I am grateful to our colleagues from Scottish Fire and Rescue who assisted us in searching the area.

"I would also like to thank the public for their patience, as the road was closed for some time."

Anyone who saw the woman, who was described as having long black hair and wearing black clothing, can contact police on 101 quoting as a reference incident number 3670 of March 28.
