Police confirm identity of body found near Macduff

Police have confirmed the body of a man found by cliffs near Macduff yesterday has now been formally identified as William Hay.

The 35-year-old was found by officers at around 11.15am.

Mr Hay was reported missing from Banff on Saturday, December 7.

A police spokesman said: "A post mortem will take place in due course, but currently his death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
