Just over 70 years ago on June 27, 1952, James (92) and Vera (89) Pittendreigh tied the knot in the Union Hotel Turriff.

They spent their working life farming at Waulkmill, Cuminestown and retired to their home where they remain to this day at Crudie.

At their home on Monday they had a visit from Steven Mackison, Deputy Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire who visited the couple with a card from the Queen and a gift of chocolates and wine.

A garden party was also held on Wednesday to celebrate with family and Councillor Ian Taylor was welcomed as a guest and arrived with flowers, whiskey and a card on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council to congratulate the pair on their special anniversary.
