VOTERS in Moray have been heading to the polls as local residents vote in two brand-new constituencies.

Polling stations opened at 7am and will close at 10pm, with voters in Moray selecting new MPs.

The two constituencies are Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey (which includes Elgin, Forres, Lossiemouth and Aberlour) and Aberdeenshire North and Moray East (Fochabers, Keith, Buckie).

Ballots for Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey will be counted at Elgin Town Hall, with a declaration expected at 4am.

Aberdeenshire North and Moray East votes will be tallied at the P+J Live in Aberdeen, with a declaration anticipated to arrive at 4.45am.

The Northern Scot will have teams working through the night in Elgin and Aberdeen to keep readers up-to-date with both counts.
